WEEKEND VACATION

Well as some of you know, we had planned on spending the weekend in Dallas & seeing the Aerosmith/Lenny Kravitz show. We tried to get comp tickets, but there weren't any for that show, so instead of spending the money on tickets, we decided to get a few things we need for our home recording "studio" (a more responsible decision) & do a more reasonable vacation somewhere else. So, after much thought- we decided to vacation in Tulsa, Oklahoma!! It was great, if you ever have a chance you should definitely vacation there. When we arrived in Tulsa, we hit the town right away, starting with a romantic dinner at a quaint (but fancy) place called Mary's Italian Trattoria on Tulsa's historic Cherry Street. (The best Chicken Parmigiano EVER!!) Then we proceeded to the hip & bustling Brookside District to a little desert/chocolate spot called Stephen Howard's KoKoa, it was delightful! (We had the double chocolate gellatio & biscotti). We stayed at the beautiful Renaissance Hotel in south Tulsa & then made the trip home on Sunday afternoon. On the drive home, we had to stop at the popular road trip restaurant, "The Cracker Barrel", where Jonny made it down to one on the triangle peg game... (I think he's memorized how, because he gets it every time...) Then, full of homestyle cookin' (including my favorite: the fried apples) we finished the trip home listening to "Prairie Home Companion". What a great trip!!

XANADU

Thursday night we went to Cain's Ballroom to see Xanadu play. I took some video on my phone, but until we figure out how to upload it, we'll show some photos. They were really great as usual, & it only reminded me how much I love Joseph. Everytime I watch him play I get a little teary. Especially when he does drum solos. He's such a talented musician. (And a real sweetheart). If you have never seen them, you need to. Check out myspace.com/xanadumusic to listen to their music online & keep track of what they're up to. They just finished recording an album (produced by my dad) & it sounds great. Ok, that's all. (The last photo is my favorite. It's of Stevie, Xanadu's #1 fan!!)

HOODWINKED!!

I just wanted to say how happy I was for my friend Cory Edwards who's movie "Hoodwinked" was released this month with a bang. Cory & his brother Todd are Tulsans who have a production company called "Blue Yonder Films" - they did an independent movie in Tulsa about 10 years ago called "Chillicothie" that you may or may not have heard of. "Hoodwinked" has been a labor of love for these guys for a long time, an original concept that snowballed until by the time it was finished, it was picked up for distribution by the Weinstein Company. After it released, it was number two movie in the country the first two weekends. (This weekend will be the third it's been out). I worked with Cory on a show that we did for ESPN, & he was always talking about the movie & working on it on his laptop in between shooting- I saw stills & clips for it two years ago. They got an incredible cast for the voices: Glenn Close, Jim Belushi, Ann Hathaway, Xzibit, Andy Dick, Patrick Warburten ("Putty" from Seinfeld!!) and many others! Also has music performances by Ben Folds & the Gotee Brothers. It is a great movie, go see it. It's smart with humor kids and adults both would love - like "Shrek". (But better). It's based on the story of "Little Red Riding Hood", but told in a "The Usual Suspects" fashion. Ok that's all.

BASKETBALL BLOWOUT

Tonight I went to watch Micah, Paule' & Jason's basketball team. It was a pretty lopsided game, as the other team showed up with 4 players. So they went ahead with the game regardless- even though the other team never had subs for taking breaks, & our team was rotating players every other second.... Then, in the second half, a player from the other team hurt his ankle, so then we were only playing against 3 1/2 guys.... So, needless to say, I was disappointed that we didn't break 100 points. (the score was like 96-30 something?) We should have broken 200..... (We missed a lot of shots). If you look at photo number 2 at the beginning of the 1st half, the score is 3-0... then in photo number 8, at the beginning of the 2nd half, the score is either 51 or 61-9. So, I tried to take some pictures, but they didn't work out too well- they all turned out very blurry. Maybe because everyone was running so fast....
I'll put some up anyways. Crappy pictures... (With captions).

COOKIN' OUT

We cooked out for the first time this week. Thought that would be a nice way to start the blog (with the exception of the mic check). It was pretty exciting, because we got the grill over 6 months ago from my parents as a wedding gift, & had never gotten the chance to use it. Angelene said she had a great idea for dinner earlier that day, & when I pulled in the driveway later I saw her out by the grill (it was a nice surprise). She couldn't get it started, though- I had to do it. We also had cornbread, homemade (whole wheat) mac & cheese & corn on the cob (which I cooked on the grill). It was great. The best part of the meal was definitely the mac & cheese....
